The Winchester rifle is known as "the rifle that won the West." It has been in existence for 140 years, and made in New Haven, CT for all 140 years. A few weeks ago, the Belgian holding company that owns the U.S. Repeating Arms Co. announced that it will close the plan that makes the Winchester rifle. The fire arm brands produced at the plant will either be sold or manufactured overseas. The city of New Haven is working hard to save the plant. Not only will a wonderful rifle be lost by the plant closing, but 186 workers are scheduled to lose their jobs on March 31. Union leaders, politicians, and supporters of the workers are doing what they can to save the plant. The New Haven Register has a series of articles that describe the plan to shut the plant down. Saint Louis arms is lending its support to the workers at U.S. Repeating Arms Co. Check back soon to see how you can help save the plant. |
